The House this morning appears headed to final approval today of the HUD/Transportation appropriations bill, HR 3074, (details on this bill, including text of the bill, amendments, and votes are here)
(The bill includes $180 Million in HUD earmarks found in the House Report 110-238 here).
Two substantive HUD related amendment would have transferred $106 Million from Amtrak to HUD homeless programs and reduced Section 8 assistance by $330 Million. Both amendments were easily defeated. (Gary Miller from CA. offered and then withdrew an amendment to expand the number of housing authorities allowed to participate in the Moving to Work program. Miller similarly offered and withdrew an amendment limiting the ability of HUD to increase MF insurance premiums).
Senate consideration of the HUD/Transportation bill is uncertain. (I have seen speculation that the Senate may not take up the HUD/Transportation appropriations bill individually, and that the bill instead could become a part of an omnibus bill, sometime in September).
