IPOD Audio, Final Oregon House Vote, Affordable Housing Recording Fees Increase, HB 3551

For transfer to your Ipod or other MP3 player, or playable on your PC...

The $15 per document increase in document recording fees provided for in this bill would have raised an addition $36 Million for a variety of affordable housing programs over the next two years. The bill was defeated on June 25, 2007, reportedly after some Republican members who had committed to vote for the bill changed their votes when their leadership told them to do so. Objections raised during the House consideration included impacts on returning veterans, high administrative costs, impacts on new homeowners, and the reported opposition from the Oregon Association of County Clerks, an affiliate of the Oregon Association of Counties.

Audio is nearly 38 minutes long, a little less than 9MB [As I recall about 3/4 of the way through there is silence for a few minutes, as members were rounded up to vote].
