HOPE VI Bill Passes With Veterans Twist.

The HOPE VI reauthorization bill passed in the House today.

However, in a last minute amendment the mandatory grading components for HOPE VI applications were changed to [I believe] REMOVE favorable consideration of HOPE VI applications that helped meet the needs of ex offenders and to ADD a "hard to house" provision that would favorably consider applications that would provide a preference to veterans.
(THOMAS information on the bill, including specific text of this amendment, should be updated by tomorrow HERE. )

The author of this approved amendment did not answer a question from Finance Committee Chair Frank about how housing authorities were to treat veterans who were ex offenders.
