Sad story that former Detroit Tigers pitcher Mark "The Bird" Fidrych died in an apparent accident on his farm, HERE.
My fondest memory of Fidrich was watching an ABC night baseball broadcast where George C. Scott , a fellow ex Detroiter, was the guest commentator. I was working for HUD in D. C at the time (1976). Fidrych pitched a great game and it was a terrific way to reconnect with my home town.
Man, I feel old...
