FHA's 75th Anniversary Month: Let the Posting Begin.

Today I am making the first of many posts during the 75th. anniversary month for FHA, HERE.

I will be doing some highlight posts, but also will roll out individual pages and sections in a longer PDF document which consolidates all the FHA materials I will be blogging about. That document will remain posted and updated at the TOP of the right pane as 75th. FHA Anniversary Celebration.

The first page of
the 75th FHA Anniversary Celebration document is a posting of national FHA related information. It includes videos, pics, and other documents for both single family and multifamily FHA loans.

Included are
  1. Links to a Excel database with details on FHA MF loans from 1934-2008 that cover more than 5 million units. Includes President Obama's FHA apartment where he lived when attending high school.
  2. IPOD Movies.
  3. Links to the Historic Register nomination of Colonial Village, the first FHA MF loan, in Arlington, Va. It includes an excellent historical background description of the Garden City and Garden Apartment movements.
  4. Links to materials related to the Better Housing Campaign, which kicked off in the year following FHA's creation. (will be more about newly discovered information about Oregon's event in subsequent posting)
  5. Pics of first FHA single family loan, for a home in New Jersey.
Upcoming Additional Pages in the 75th. FHA Anniversary Celebration document Will Include Newly Discovered Details on FIRST (and Second) FHA Multifamily Loan(s) Made in Oregon.
In subsequent posts I will add Oregon specific single family AND multifamily pages to
75th. FHA Anniversary Celebration document. My multifamily posting for Oregon will be especially robust as I have recently uncovered the identities of both the FIRST and second FHA multifamily loans made in Oregon, in Portland.

These beautiful nearly 70 year old projects illustrate convincingly that multifamily rental housing can be preserved to serve the rental market for a long, long time.
