Oregonian Front Porch Blog Has Report Showing Portland Apt. Vacancies in 5-7% Range.

From Ryan Frank's blog post of top 5 RE stories HERE.

Post includes link to actual report:
"2. PDX apartment vacancies at 5 percent: Brokers Gary Winkler and Beth DuPont over at Colliers reported this week that the Portland apartment market is showing continued troubles. As of September, vacancies averaged 5 percent to 7 percent. Effective rents - when concessions are accounted for - are 10 percent off the advertised price. It's the continued impact of renters either moving in friends or parents, or using the tax credit to buy. Winkler and DuPont also report that middle-income renters are still struggling to afford an apartment. Middle-income renters can afford $613 and $980 a month. But most of the new apartments built are running far above that. At the end of the third quarter, average rents for studio and one-bedroom units across the metro area ranged between $710 and $740 per month, Colliers reported."
