Senate provisions in the FY 2010 appropriations bill may be a problem for potential HOPE VI grantees. While the House bill provides $250 million for the HOPE VI program, the Senate bill provides a TOTAL of $250 million for the Choice Neighborhoods program, and a set aside for public housing authorities of only $165 Million, a 33% cut from the House level. (Choice Neighborhoods includes revitalization of HUD multifamily properties, not just public housing).
