Carpentry Jobs Not Recovering; In Oregon Only 23 Annual NEW Carpentry Job Openings Projected from 2008-2018.

WaPo story is HERE.

That got me thinking so I went in to the Oregon Labor Market Information website and with the search HERE I created table below.

It shows that ANNUALLY from 2008-2018 the projection is that there will only be 23 carpenter job openings for NEW jobs each year, with another 171 annual job REPLACEMENT openings; this means the TOTAL 10 YEAR statewide growth in carpentry jobs is only 227! (Note that table shows statewide total, but search link above ALSO includes regional numbers).

Measurement Statewide
2008 Employment  13,637
2018 Employment  13,864
Total Change 227
10 YR Total Change 1.70%
Annual Growth Change 23
Annual Replacement Change 171
Total Annual Change 194
