Student loan reduction has been in the news and I saw an estimate that $4 billion in Oregon might be eligible for reduction.
That prompted me to think about the PPP program and it's loan forgiveness. So, I downloaded SBA PPP loan forgiveness data for businesses located in Oregon; that data appears to be most recently updated in early July.
I pasted an image below of the Oregon county level PPP loans and forgiveness. (That same data is found in the first two worksheets of the Excel file).
The data shows that 96%/$9.68 Billion of currently approved Oregon PPP loan amounts have been forgiven. That's more than 2.4 times the current projected $4 Billion of Oregon student loan forgiveness.
There are four worksheets in the Excel file I created HERE:
Pivot table worksheet
The default view is the count of PPP loans, the PPP loan amounts and the PPP forgiveness by county. The default filter at the top pull down as a default selects only “projects” in Oregon. (County level data is only available for "projects" and not businesses and a few Oregon businesses have “projects” located in another state). A second pull down allows filtering by the type of borrower, including non profits.
Oregon County Summary
This worksheet has the county summary that is the default in the Pivot Table. It includes a subtotal for the 3 county Portland metro area and the counties outside of that 3 county area. The image pasted below is this worksheet.
Data
The pivot table uses data in this worksheet. Users can use filters to focus on specific gels or other areas of interest.
Data fields
This worksheet has a simple vertical list of all of the PPP data fields.
