Boise County Ordered to Pay Up on Fair Housing Case, Even it Means Higher Taxes.

Boise County delivered a $1.2 million check to development firm Oaas Laney Monday, the first of a number of payments ordered by a federal judge.
The judge outlined a payment plan for the county and said it should raise taxes — even beyond the cap set by Idaho law — and tap unspent funds throughout its budget if that’s what it takes.

U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill ordered the payments — totaling $5.4 million, including about $1.4 million in attorneys’ fees — after a federal jury last year said the county violated the Fair Housing Act in its handling of an application for a proposed teen treatment center called Alamar Ranch.

Note: City of Boise is NOT located in Boise County, it is in Ada county.

State Mortgage Licensing Database Goes On Line for 7 States, Idaho IS Part of Initial Group, Oregon Isn't.

Knowledgeplex has a stateline.org story about a new on line licensing system for state regulated mortgage lenders HERE.

Story says that initially only 7 states are currently online with another 8 scheduled to come on line by July , with remainder not until 2009. Idaho is part of initial 7 states, Oregon isn't. Story doesn't list July additions so it is not known whether Oregon is in that second group of 8 states.
