School New Construction Excise Tax Collected Totaled $104 Million in Four Years; Portland Collected 25% of That Total and Beaverton 13%.

This Oregon Education document details the authority that Oregon school districts have to levy new construction excise taxes since 2007.  Note that this is DIFFERENT than the 2016 authority of local and county government to impose new construction excise taxes for affordable housing purposes.

The most recent Oregon Tax Expenditure report HERE (page 393) indicated that school new construction construction taxes in school year 2018-2019 totaled $25.99 million.

I wanted to see more data and was able to get that data from the Oregon Education Department. It showed that 64 school districts collected construction taxes totaling $24.8 million in school year 2018-2019 and a total of $104.4 million for the 4 school years 2016-2019.

The two pictures below are a listing of the 64 school districts, in ranked order of 2016-2019 collections. (You can download a 2 page PDF of the same table HERE).
